Coal Miners
With more and more technology in the 1920s, new industries were being created and old ones were being destroyed. An example of this was when many new inventions that required electricity. Electricity required coal, therefore, the coal industry was booming. This eventually led to the over-expansion of the coal industry, since coal is not a renewable resource. Around 1925, coal miners were already striking in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. The major strike was called the New Waterford Lake riot, where one of the miners was killed. This caused a major commotion and more and more miners came to protest.

In Ontario, there was another strike happening in the 1920's, this strike was due to the 40 percent wage cuts that general motors implemented. The wage cuts were reversed when the workers went on strike for one week and created what turned out to be the largest union in Canada.
The 1920's for workers was not a roar because of all the hardships they had to go through although their actions showed that canadian workers could work and stand by each other to accomplish many things.
